Man killed trying to repossess car in Columbus County

COLUMBUS COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — Deputies are investigating the murder of a man trying to repossess a vehicle overnight.

Deputies said Jeffrey David Lowe, 37, was shot and killed this morning around 3:00 a.m. in the 1400 block of Sunset Terrace Road, west of Whiteville. There were no other injuries reported.

Both William Roy Kohler Jr., 51, and his son, William Roy Kohler III, 18, are facing charges including murder and discharging a firearm into an occupied vehicle, deputies said.

An autopsy is scheduled for tomorrow in Raleigh.
