Man pleads guilty for failing to register as sex offender
COLUMBUS COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — A man plead guilty for failing to register as a sex offender.
According to a news release from District Attorney Jon David, Henry James McGee did not respond to his registration notices sent by the SBI in 2014.
The Columbus County Sheriff’s Department tried to find him at the address he had registered under and was told he had moved away at least a month earlier. The Sheriff’s Department later found McGee and charged and arrested him in September 2014.
McGee was required to register as a sex offender for his 1995 conviction of Accessory After a Second Degree Rape.
McGee was sentenced to between 2 and 3 and a half years.
