Man sentenced to life in prison in kidnapping, murder of 13-year-old Hania Aguilar

LUMBERTON, NC (WWAY) — The man charged with the kidnapping, rape and murder of a Lumberton teen in 2018 has pleaded guilty.
According to affiliate WPDE, Michael McLellan was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole in the murder of Hania Aguilar, 13.
His plea also included charges in the attacks of two additional and unrelated victims, according to the Lumberton Police Dept. Those were crimes that occurred in October 2016 and July 2018.
Aguilar was kidnapped from outside her Lumberton home on Nov. 5, 2018. Authorities said she was forced into an SUV. Her body and the SUV were later found several miles away.
Records show McLellan’s criminal history dates back to 2000. It includes convictions for assault on a child, assault with a deadly weapon and burglary.
