Man sentenced to more than 11 years for domestic violence assaults in Brunswick County

BOLIVIA, NC (WWAY) — A Brunswick County man was sentenced to more than 11 years in prison after being convicted in connection with two domestic violence assaults, according to District Attorney Jon David.
Jeffery Montreal Nichols was sentenced March 27 to multiple consecutive sentences stemming from two separate incidents in the early morning hours of Aug. 24, 2024.
Prosecutors said Nichols assaulted and strangled his girlfriend twice during those incidents.
According to the District Attorney’s Office, Nichols was convicted of assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury, two counts of assault by strangulation causing physical injury, misdemeanor crime of domestic violence and communicating threats.
The sentences included terms of 110 to 144 months, 11 to 23 months, 11 to 23 months, 150 days and 120 days, all to run consecutively. In total, Nichols received a minimum sentence of about 11 years and eight months.
