Man severely injured after early morning shooting

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — One man was severely injured after an early morning shooting near the 900 block of Queen Street.

Wilmington Police are investigating the shooting that occurred around 2:30am Sunday.

According to Cathryn Lindsay with the WPD, 22-year-old Christopher Wigfall was shot multiple times in the torso, arm and legs.

Wigfall was transported to New Hanover Regional Medical Center and was last listed in critical but stable condition.

Officers say they received the call of a gunshot victim arriving at the hospital and also a ShotSpotter notification.

This incident is currently under investigation.
