Man shot, killed near Coastal Carolina University

CONWAY, SC (AP) — Authorities are investigating after a man was shot and killed at a housing complex near Conway.

Investigators tell local media outlets it happened about 7 p.m. Wednesday at an apartment complex near Coastal Carolina University. Both university students and students at nearby Horry-Georgetown Technical College and others live in the complex.

The university issued an alert Wednesday night asking that students stay inside after a blue pickup truck was seen leaving the area. The alert was lifted about four hours later when officials said the area was secure.

The name of the 21-year-old victim was not immediately released.

No arrests have been reported.
