Man wanted for stealing Girl Scout cookie money caught
CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) – Police say they have arrested a man who stole $345 from Girl Scouts selling cookies after getting a tip the suspect was getting a haircut.
Charleston Police spokesman Charles Francis said in a news release that 31-year-old Stephen Sciarrino was charged with purse snatching after officers found him at a Charleston home getting his hair trimmed.
Police say Sciarrino ran up and grabbed a container with $345 inside on Sunday as the scouts turned that back from a table as they changed shifts at a Petco west of downtown Charleston.
Sciarrino is awaiting a bond hearing at the Charleston County jail. It wasn’t known if he had a lawyer.
