Manhunt underway for cop killer in Massachusetts

A manhunt is underway in Massachusetts for a gunman who shot and killed a police officer early Sunday.

The officer worked in Auburn, about 50 miles west of Boston. The shooting took place there around 12:30 a.m. and the shooter fled the scene in a car, the Massachusetts State Police said.

The officer, whose identity was not immediately released, was transported to UMass Medical Center in Worcester, the state police said. The officer died later at the hospital, multiple law enforcement sources in Massachusetts told ABC News.

According to police, Jorge Zambrano of Worcester is wanted for questioning. Police said Zambrano is considered armed and dangerous.
