Maple Hill’s woman celebrates her 100th birthday

MAPLE HILL, NC (WWAY) — Sunday was a very special day for one Maple Hill woman and for the town itself.

Annie Elizabeth Shepard Hayes celebrated her 100th birthday on Sunday, held at Lee’s Chapel Missionary Baptist Church.

She is the oldest living person in Maple Hill and the first Maple Hill woman to reach the age of 100.

A member of the Order of the Eastern Star, she worked at Camp Davis in Holly Ridge.

She has 4 children and 34 grandchildren…. with several of her relatives there to celebrate with her.
