Martin Luther King Jr. Day activities around the Cape Fear

CAPE FEAR, NC (WWAY) — Martin Luther King Day is happening Monday, January 20th. Here are some events that are taking place across the Cape Fear.

SATURDAY:

  • The City of Wilmington Parks & Recreation will host their annual MLK, Jr. Family Fun Day at Maides Park, 1101 Manly Ave, Wilmington, NC 28405 from 11 am until 2 pm.
  • The Martin Luther King Jr. Banquet will take place on Saturday, January 18, 2025, at John T. Hoggard High School at 5:00 p.m. Doors will open at 4p.m. Tickets are $150 in Advance which includes a meal.
  • The National Black Leadership Caucus Southeastern Region hosting “Black History Is World History” Honoring Community Leaders taking place Saturday, February 15, 2025, at 6:00 pm Ebenezer Empowerment Center 2929 Princess Place Drive Wilmington, North Carolina 28403.

SUNDAY:

  • MLK, Jr. Day Interfaith Service , sponsored by Faith Leaders United of Wilmington at St. Luke AME Zion Church, 709 Church Street, Wilmington, NC 28401 at 4 pm.

MONDAY:

  • The 36th Annual Martin Luther King, Jr. Parade, Monday, January 20, 2025 at 9:00 a.m. at 805 West Broad Street in Elizabethtown.
  • Burgaw Lions Club Hosts MLK Breakfast Program A Call to Serve on Monday, January 20, 2025, from 10 AM to 12 PM at the Burgaw Library.
  • MLK, Jr. Day Celebration, Family and Multi-Cultural Event co-sponsored by Coast 97.3. 10 Convention Center Drive, Wilmington, NC 28401. Doors open at 11 am. This is a free event to the public.
  • Rev Dr. Martin Luther King Jr March In Wilmington.  Monday, January 20th at 2:30 pm Former Williston Sr. High School 401 South 10th Street.
