WILMINGTON, N.C. (WWAY) — The UNCW men’s basketball team took down non-CAA rival East Carolina 85-60 at Trask Coliseum Tuesday.

The game was tied at 24 in the 1st half only for the Seahawks to go on an 11-0 run and lead 42-30 at halftime.

Head Coach Takayo Siddle says the team has been smart as they’ve begun the year 3-1.

“We’ve been on our guys about just making the right play,” Siddle said. “Out teaming our opponent by making the right play and playing with discipline. We try to do it a little bit more, but we’re starting to get used to having more of a game rhythm. Making decisions in chaos. I thought the guys did a really good job at being intentional about finding the open man tonight.”

The team shot exactly 50-percent from the floor and from three-point range.

Christian May led UNCW with 22 points, one of four Seahawks to score in double figures. Greedy Williams had nine of his own to go with ten assists.

“I feel like that’s our strong suit because we got so many players that were that the guys,” Williams said. “When you put that together, it takes time to gel. But as we gel and continue to grow, we’re going to be hard to stop.”

“Once we hit one, I think our team gets going,” May said. “We start hitting more. I think we’re one of the best three-point shooting teams in our conference. We shoot the ball amazing in practice. We might not have been shooting it great in games, but I think that game really helped us.”

UNCW will visit Radford on Friday.
