Mayor Steve Smith of Topsail Beach dies

PENDER COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — With heavy hearts the town of Topsail Beach announced the passing of their mayor Steve Smith. He passed away peacefully on Friday, September 13th.

Smith served the Topsail Beach community for almost a decade as both the commissioner and the mayor. In addition, he was a husband, father, and a grandfather.

The town of Topsail Beach said he left behind a huge void in the town.

Funeral arrangements are being made by the family and details will be shared as they come available.
