McDonald’s hosts candlelit Valentine’s dinners
MONKEY JUNCTION, NC (WWAY) — The Mcdonald’s of Southport and Monkey Junction hosted Valentine’s Day candlelit dinners for lovers from all over the Cape Fear region.
“Rose petals, some flowers, candlelight and doyleys, just to decorate it and some music piped in too, of course all love songs,” said area supervisor Patty Owens.
Valentine’s Day decorations filled McDonald’s attracting people who wanted to share an intimate meal with loved ones without breaking the bank.
Customer Cathy Bordeaux said, “I come to have a great time with my husband at this candlelight dinner at Mcdonald’s. It’s wonderful!”
It has been a tradition for the Southport location to hold event and this year the Monkey Junction location decided to participate too.
The event was the grand finale of a 2 week long campaign. Store owner David Anderson says it called Pay with Loving, “So if they would do something like call their mom and tell them they loved them, give somebody a hug, or some other gesture of love, then a lot of them got their meal for free.”
Store manager Vicky Clemmons says she’s heard a lot of interesting responses, “The cashier asked a customer if would you like to pay with loving today? He said I’m sorry I’m married.”
Saturday, their goal was to show some love to customers and for them to show love to each other Owens said. “It doesn’t matter how much money you spend just along as your together,” she said.
Many customers who came for the experience were glad they did. “I hope they have it next year,” Bordeaux said.
