MED Week kicks off in Cape Fear to celebrate and support minority businesses
LELAND, NC (WWAY) — An event was held in the WWAY event center Friday to kick off a week celebrating minority businesses in the Cape Fear Region.
Minority Enterprise Development week or MED week, is filled with networking opportunities and workshops.
Friday’s private event for business leaders and council members kicked off the week dedicated to learning and strengthening the business community.
New Hanover County Civic Engagement Coordinator, Travis Corpening said this week is about helping businesses grow.
“Minority business specifically a lot of times have had disadvantages. So, we want to make sure that all businesses no matter what kind of business you are as we focus on this specific week have the opportunity to focus on anything that’s going to help them take that next step,” Corpening said.
Our very own Tomika Jackson was at the event, greeting people and helping kick off the festivities.
