Meet the Brunswick County student behind this year’s ‘I Voted’ sticker
BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — If you’ve already voted in Brunswick County this election, you may have noticed your “I Voted” sticker looks a little different from previous elections. That’s because the sticker was designed by a Brunswick County Schools Student.
Mirabelle Donovan, who is a freshman at North Brunswick High School, designed this year’s sticker when she was still in 8th grade at Leland Middle School.
Donovan’s design won out of several created by students across the district. Donovan said she chose an eye for “I Voted” as a fun and unique take on the classic show of patriotism.
“I really just thought it would be kind of funny and kind of cool like a play on words,” Donovan said. “It’s always just like a flag that says like ‘I Voted,’ so I thought it would be like a little twist.”
Donovan added she’s always been interested in art, and that she might pursue it as a career path in the future. But for now, she said, she’s still figuring out high school.
The county board of elections said it will be hosting another sticker competition among students for every future presidential election.
