Mehling 1-hits New Hanover in Ashley’s 5-0 win

WILMINGTON, N.C. (WWAY) – Following a two game skid, Ashley baseball got back into the win column Tuesday with a 5-0 road shutout against New Hanover.

The Eagles later runs came in the form of two bases loaded walks and a wild pitch.

Ashley starting pitcher Cane Mehling went the distance, only allowing one hit and two walks while recording six strikeouts.

“Felt great from the jump,” Mehling said. “Really just the fastball, honestly. Then in the later innings, I kind of started getting more into the off-speed. My usual three. Still think we’re on the verge of getting where we want to be. Think the bats will come alive. Glad to come out here and get a win.”
