Memorial to mark anniversary of teen’s mysterious death
BLADENBORO, NC (WWAY) — The North Carolina NAACP will host a memorial service this week to mark one year since the mysterious death of a Bladen County teenager.
Lennon Lacy was found hanging from a swingset in a Bladenboro mobile home park on Aug. 29, 2014.
Two months later an autopsy ruled the 17-year-old died of asphyxia from hanging, but investigators have said they found no evidence of foul play.
Lacy’s family joined forces with the NAACP to push for more investigating in the case arguing the teen had no reason to kill himself and that evidence suggests someone else may have been involved. In November the FBI agreed to look into the case, but no new information has been released.
The memorial service is scheduled for Friday at 7 p.m. at First Missionary Baptist Church at 521 Martin Luther King Jr. Drive in Bladenboro.
