Michael Silverman named new Pender County Manager

PENDER COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — The Pender County Board of County Commissioners says Michael Silverman will be the new County Manager, effective June 3.
The Sanford, North Carolina native is currently serving as the city manager for Pascagoula, Mississippi.
Silverman’s educational background includes a Bachelor of Arts degree in history from the University of North Carolina Wilmington and a Master of Public Administration from the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill.
In his new position, Michael Silverman will oversee the day-to-day operations of Pender County government, working closely with county staff, elected officials, and community stakeholders to address the needs and priorities of the county.
A statement from the county notes, “His extensive experience in municipal management and his commitment to fostering transparent, accountable governance make him well-equipped to lead Pender County into a successful future.”
Silverman expressed his gratitude for being chosen by the Board of County Commissioners for this significant position, stating, “I am deeply honored. I eagerly anticipate fostering collaboration with the Board of County Commissioners, county personnel, and the community to amplify the county’s triumphs and tackle its hurdles. Pender County holds a unique charm with its breathtaking natural landscapes, dedicated residents, and vibrant heritage, fostering a genuine community spirit. My commitment lies in actively engaging with the community and working closely with staff to achieve the objectives outlined by the Pender County Commissioners.”
David Andrews currently serves as the County Manager and will continue in this role until June 30.
