FIRST ON 3: High school lacrosse coach out after arrest

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — A spokeswoman with the New Hanover County Schools system said a volunteer lacrosse coach no longer in that role following an arrest.

According to jail records, Michael William LaSalle is facing a charge of assault of a female. The incident was reported last Friday; LaSalle was arrested Tuesday. He’s now out of jail. According to the warrant, LaSalle is accused of striking and slamming a female victim to the ground, causing an injury.

A NHCS spokeswoman said LaSalle was a volunteer lacrosse coach at New Hanover High School, starting in 2012. As of yesterday, LaSalle was no longer coaching, the spokeswoman said. LaSalle was also hired as a non-certified substitute teacher in 2013, but he is currently inactive in that role.
