Monday’s NCAA game for UNCW vs. South Carolina pushed back to Tuesday

COLUMBIA, SC (AP) — It will take at least one more day to decide the NCAA Tournament’s Columbia Regional. The final between UNC Wilmington and South Carolina has been postponed until Tuesday because of weather.

The Gamecocks (45-16) had forced a winner-take-all final with a 10-1 victory over the Seahawks (41-18) on Sunday night. However, rain started Monday morning and continued throughout most of the day. (Update: game time will be a 2pm start in Columbia).

The forecast called for sunny skies on Tuesday at Founders Park.

South Carolina, the region’s top seed, has won three straight elimination games since a 5-4 loss to Rhode Island on Friday night.

UNC Wilmington had won its first two regional games, but were held in check by Gamecocks starter Tyler Johnson on Sunday.
