Moores Creek National Battlefield closed amid government shutdown

CURRIE, NC (WWAY) — Moores Creek National Battlefield has closed to the public as a result of the federal government shutdown.

Pender County Tourism says staff have been furloughed and are unavailable during the closure. The gates are locked, and no vehicle traffic is permitted on site until further notice.

Moores Creek National Battlefield, located in Pender County, preserves the site of the first significant American victory during the Revolutionary War.

The closure will likely remain in effect until the shutdown is resolved and staff are able to return.
