More than 1,800 elementary students attend UNCW WBB “Tomorrow” game
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — The UNCW women’s basketball team held its 18th annual Tomorrow education game at Trask Coliseum on Thursday, November 16th.
More than 1,800 elementary school kids were in attendance as the Seahawks took on Western Carolina.
The kids were from 14 different schools from a record 6 different counties.
While the Seahawks ended up losing 54-43, head coach Nicole Woods says her first “Tomorrow” game was special and spoke about a similar game she attended when she was younger that helped lead her to where she is now.
“My first time on a college campus was at something like a Seahawk Tomorrow, it was a Boys and Girls club, but it was a similar setup, Woods said. “And I went to Belmont Abbey College for a game and I ended up going to Belmont Abbey College. You just never know the impact that coming to a game could have on a young boy or a young girl.”
The Lady Seahawks will host Presbyterian on Wednesday, November 22nd as part of their Military Appreciation Day.
