More than 200 elementary students receive bikes through the Bike for Kids Foundation

NEW HANOVER COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — On Monday, more than 200 third-grade students in New Hanover County received brand-new bicycles as part of the Bikes for Kids Foundation.

Students from Freeman, Alderman, Forest Hills, and Snipes Elementary Schools received the bikes at a special assembly at New Hanover County High School.

A spokesperson from the school district says that several high school students shared personal reflections on the meaning of hard-work and perseverance serving as role models.  The students represented a range of pathways including college, technical school, trade school, police academy, fire service, military service, and apprenticeship programs.

The assembly recognized students’ dedication and effort, reinforcing the importance of goal setting and perseverance while creating a memorable and joyful experience.
