Mother speaks out after son dies in crash
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — It’s been almost a week since 2-year-old Mason Richardson lost his life in a car crash.
His mother Alexandria Williams says she will never forget what happened on November 1.
“I would not wish this on any parent or anyone period,” Williams said.
Williams and her son’s Jordan and Mason and his father were riding in a car that was rear-ended in Wilmington.
The night before her family went trick-or-treating. That was just one of the many special memories she will always cherish.
“Every memory I have now is my favorite,” Williams said.
Williams said Mason’s nickname was “Mae Mae” and with a baby girl on the way, she wants Mason to live on through her.
“For his sister, her name is going to be Addison and we have decided to name her Addison Mae Richardson to keep it going,” Williams said.
Like most little boys, Mason loved superheroes especially batman. For him it was a figure of strength and comfort. For Williams she turns to friends, family, and the Lord for her support and for justice.
“I just pray that there is something that can be done so they can keep incidents like this from happening,” Williams said.
As Mason rests in heaven, Williams says love your children and never take a day, a minute, or a second for granted.
“If there is anything I could say is that ‘I’m so sorry and I love you so much,'” Williams said.
Jonathan Alexander Hayes is responsible for the accident is being held in New Hanover County Jail under a $59.1 million bond. His next court is schedule for November 17.
