Multiple organizations join hands to help clean a local park
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY)– Audi Cape Fear, Plastic Ocean Project, and Alliance for Cape Fear Trees teamed up for a mission to walk and clean Abbey Nature Preserve Park.
They invited people to embrace the nature of the park and help clean any trash they found. Isabel Shepherd, Executive Director of Alliance for Cape Fear Trees, says for every certain amount of trash they pick up, they will plant a tree. Shepherd believes helping nature is something everyone should do at least once.
“I think we each have a responsibility in our community for making a more equitable, resilient, healthy, community for all. We all have a role to play, and I am out here this morning, excited to shovel up, and dig my boots into the dirt and get some trees in the ground”, said Shepherd.
If you want to get your green thumb, Alliance for Cape Fear Trees will be planting trees on January 10th at Northside.
