Myrtle Beach adopts temporary extended juvenile curfew ahead of permanent ordinance

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (WPDE) — The city manager of Myrtle Beach signed an executive order Wednesday morning to adopt an extended juvenile curfew from Thursday to Sunday over the next couple of weekends as they work to pass a permanent ordinance.
The expanded juvenile curfew in certain parts of the city will be in effect from Thursday, July 10, through Sunday, July 13, and Thursday, July 17, through Sunday, July 20.
City officials said this is just “one piece of a larger puzzle in the ongoing community effort to address juvenile issues in the Ocean Boulevard area.”
The order comes as a result of the city council declaring these dates an extraordinary event.
In “extraordinary event” circumstances, officials can temporarily put things in place like the extended juvenile curfew without having to go through the process of voting it into law.
