COLUMBUS COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — A Nakina man is facing multiple felony charges following an investigation by the Columbus County Sheriff’s Office and the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation’s Internet Crimes Against Children Unit.

According to the sheriff’s office, detectives, working in partnership with the SBI ICAC Unit, executed a search warrant early Wednesday morning at a home on C. Reaves Lane in the Nakina community.

During the search, Jeremy James Prashaw was taken into custody without incident.

As a result of the investigation, Prashaw has been charged with 10 counts of felony second-degree sexual exploitation of a minor and one count of disclosing private images as an adult. He is being held at the Columbus County Detention Center under no bond.

“Protecting our children from online predators is one of our highest priorities,” Sheriff Bill Rogers said in a statement. “Cases like this serve as an important reminder that the internet can present very real dangers, and we encourage parents and guardians to stay actively involved in monitoring their children’s online activity and social media use.”
