WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Hundreds of people will begin to arrive in Wilmington for the 17th annual National Missing Persons Conference this weekend.

The conference kicks off officially Friday morning with community leaders providing a warm welcome to conference attendees.

“We have so many experts in a variety of topics and a great training planned throughout the weekend, we are excited to host our guest”, said CUE Founder, Monica Caison.

The conference offers law officials the chance to gain more support along with new tools to aid in their toolbox. This event brings forth such
empowerment to victims left behind by being a loved one of a missing person or lost to homicide. Just as important are the many people who volunteer to search, help, counsel and support those that suffer, desperately needing answers.

During the weekend, CUE will hold its National Candlelight Service. This ceremony is held at Wilmington’s waterfront on Saturday, March 22nd at 7:30 p.m. Laws officials begin the event with a blue light escort of busses that will load conference attendees from the hotel and travel to the downtown ceremony honoring all victims. “It truly a sight to see and all of the families who attend each year are made to feel so special in the ride”, said Monica Caison. “They deserve it and so much more”, she added.
