WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Gas prices continue to tumble across North Carolina.

Average gasoline prices in North Carolina have fallen 6.7 cents per gallon in the last week, averaging $2.87 per gallon, according to GasBuddy’s survey of 6,092 stations in North Carolina.

Prices in North Carolina are 15.3 cents per gallon lower than a month ago and stand 4.7 cents per gallon lower than a year ago. According to GasBuddy price reports, the cheapest station in North Carolina was priced at $2.49 per gallon Sunday, while the most expensive was $4.00 per gallon, a difference of $1.51. “As the nation’s average price of gasoline has fallen for the 13th straight week, we’re on the cusp of potentially seeing a $2.99 per gallon average for the first time in years, most welcome just in time for the Christmas holiday,” said Patrick De Haan, head of petroleum analysis at GasBuddy. “While the declines may soon come to an end as the price of oil has rebounded from recent lows, we could see a gentler 2024 at the pump for motorists.”
