WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — The average price of gas across North Carolina has fallen, following five straight weeks of rising prices at the pump.

Average gasoline prices in North Carolina have dropped 7.6 cents per gallon in the last week, averaging $3.28 per gallon. Prices in North Carolina are 13.8 cents per gallon higher than a month ago and stand 7.6 cents per gallon higher than a year ago. According to GasBuddy price reports, the cheapest station in North Carolina was priced at $2.63 a gallon Sunday, while the most expensive was $3.99 a gallon, a difference of $1.36. “For the first time in 2023, the national average price of gasoline has seen a weekly decline, primarily thanks to a sharp and sudden drop in the price of oil,” said Patrick De Haan with GasBuddy. “While the decline in both gasoline and diesel prices is terrific, it’s not unusual to see prices falling in February, which tends to be the month with some of the lowest gasoline prices of the year thanks to seasonally weak demand.”
