NC Azalea Festival holds Seahawk Sun Run 5k for UNCW Homecoming
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — The North Carolina Azalea Festival collaborated with UNCW to host the Seahawk Sun Run in Long Leaf Park on Sunday morning. The event included a 5k and 1.5 mile run.
The event had more than 150 people participate in the race, with many more cheering on—including Sammy C. Hawk himself.
100% of the proceeds go to the North Carolina Azalea Festival Fellowship to support UNCW students, while 50% of dog registrations go to support Paws4people.
“This is our third annual, and we decided to partner during UNCW Homecoming to just kind of add some more fun to homecoming, and also just bring the two great organizations together,” Executive Director of NC Azalea Festival Alison Baringer said.
The “Seahawk Fun Run” wraps up UNCW’s homecoming weekend.
