NC firefighter dies after workout

LINCOLNTON, NC (AP) — A Lincoln County firefighter has died after exercising while on duty.

Local media outlets reported that 34-year-old Joshua Warren collapsed Thursday while jogging at East Lincoln Middle School.

Warren was rushed to a hospital where he later died. Officials said Warren was on duty with the Alexis Fire Department at the time.

Warren had been a member of the East Lincoln Fire Department since 2013. He had worked part time for the Alexis Fire Department.

Fire officials said they could not say whether Warren had a previous medical condition.

Warren’s death is under investigation.
