NC GOP introduce bill to restrict attorney general from suing Trump’s executive orders

North Carolina General Assembly

Republican lawmakers in North Carolina have introduced a new bill that aims to restrict the state’s attorney general, Democrat Jeff Jackson, from suing over presidential executive orders.

Senate Bill 58 aims to “limit the attorney general’s participation in litigation advancing any argument that would result in the invalidation of any executive order issued by the President of the United States.”

The bill was filed on Wednesday, Feb. 5, by three Republicans in the North Carolina Senate: Tim Moffitt, Eddie Settle and Bobby Hanig.

The proposed legislation would also prevent Attorney General Jeff Jackson from taking legal action against any bills passed by the General Assembly.
