NC Insurance Commissioner attends camp at Independence Mall
NEW HANOVER COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — At Independence Mall Friday, an insurance camp was set up in the old Sears parking lot.
Insurance camps are for storm victims to talk directly with their company, file claims, and explain the FEMA process.
State Farm, All State, Geico, Nationwide, USAA, and other big companies had tents set up in the lot, hoping to make aftermath of the disaster a little easier for everyone.
North Carolina Insurance Commissioner Mike Causey was there, and offered tips to those affected.
“If somebody drives into your yard, and asks to repair your house, get their license tag number of their vehicle, ask for identification, a driver’s license or personal ID, ask for references, or call the Better Business Bureau,” said Causey. “Don’t just take their word for it.”
