NC school employee accused of hitting boy with disability, dragging him across the floor

(WRAL) — An East Garner Elementary School instructional assistant is facing child abuse and assault charges.

Tiffany Ebron, 29, of Raleigh, is charged with misdemeanor child abuse, assault on a child younger than 12 years old and assault on an individual with a disability.

Court documents state Ebron “willfully did assault and strike … an individual with a disability by lifting a child by the feet, resulting in the child striking the back of his head on the floor.”

The documents also state Ebron “dragged the child by the feet across the floor.”

The boy was 9 years old, according to the documents.

Also, the documents state the boy complained of head pain and carpet burn on his stomach and arms.

Wake County Public Schools stated Ebron is suspended with pay. She was hired on Sept. 25, 2019, according to the district.

The district said Ebron works as an instructional assistant with special programs.

Authorities arrested Ebron on Tuesday, according to the documents.
