NC Sheriffs’ Association holds annual training in Wrightsville Beach

WRIGHTSVILLE BEACH, NC (WWAY) — The North Carolina Sheriffs’ Association spring training was held in Wrightsville Beach today. Sheriffs from all over the state met to talk about key issues facing law enforcement and share ideas about how to better serve their communities.

“The office of sheriff is unique. There are only 100 sheriffs in North Carolina and so the needs of the sheriffs are in many cases the same whether you’re in Mecklenberg, Wake County, New Hanover County, or Gates County or Duplin County,” said NCSA executive vice president Eddie Caldwell.

Sheriffs in attendance agree that some key issues at this meeting include raising the juvenile age to 18, body cameras, and sex offender registration laws.
