NC State Fair presents new fried food offerings
RALEIGH, NC (AP) — The vendors at this year’s N.C. State Fair have found something new to drop in a fryer.
The News & Observer of Raleigh reports the Ragin’ Cajun booth will be selling deep-fried bananas Foster, the classic New Orleans dessert where bananas are sauteed in rum and brown sugar and served with vanilla ice cream.
Chester’s Gators & Taters near Kiddieland will be offering deep-fried Rice Krispies treats.
Fairgoers who stop at State Fair Foods of Salisbury can get deep-fried barbecue, chopped pork dipped in a cornmeal hush puppy batter, served with coleslaw or barbecue slaw.
At Chef’s D’Lites, there will be deep-fried mini cupcakes and deep-fried mini red velvet doughnuts for sale.
The fair opens on Oct. 16.
