NC State Highway Patrol requesting assistance with 2024 fatal hit and run in Brunswick County

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — The NC State Highway Patrol is hoping someone will come forward with information about a deadly hit and run accident that happened last year in Brunswick County.
It happened on October 17, 2024. On Mount Misery Road, near Dogwood Road.
The pedestrian was identified as Regina Lorine Leonard, 51.
After reviewing video footage from a nearby gas station, the highway patrol says Leonard was initially was struck in the roadway by a Toyota Tacoma.
After impact, the driver of the Tacoma stopped to render aid and ran into the gas station for help.
Highway Patrol says two other unknown vehicles struck the pedestrian in the roadway.
After impact, those two vehicles, a black passenger car and a silver SUV, failed to stop and left the scene.
Leonard was pronounced dead at the scene.
