NC trooper hurt when car struck while investigating wreck
LA GRANGE, NC (AP) — A North Carolina Highway Patrol trooper has been hurt when his patrol car was struck as he was investigating a wreck in Lenoir County.
Lt. Jeff Gordon said in a statement that the wreck happened around 7:45 p.m. Sunday on U.S. 70 near La Grange.
Gordon said the trooper had his emergency lights on as a wrecker was working to remove a vehicle when the trooper’s vehicle was hit from behind.
The trooper was taken to Wayne Memorial Hospital in Goldsboro for injuries that were not thought to be life-threatening. Gordon said the officer had been with the patrol for six years. The trooper’s name has not been released.
The patrol is still investigating the wreck. Gordon says charges are pending against the driver, whose name has not been released.
