NC Wildlife Resources Commission adopts changes to bear, deer hunting season

There may be a different calendar for this coming hunting season in the mountains. There are proposed changes — just adopted by the NC Wildlife Resources Commission. It received multiple comments about the proposed changes, most pertaining to bear and deer hunting seasons.

The Commission says the bear population has been growing four to five percent a year in Western North Carolina.

Officials say adding nine days in October to the hunting season is a way to stabilize the population.
