Nearly 9,000 gallons of sewage spill in Shinn Point

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — CFPUA crews responded to sewage spill in Wilmington on Monday night.

According to a news release, it happened just before 5:30 p.m. at the intersection of Shinnwood Avenue and Inlet View Drive.

CFPUA says the spill was due to all the rain the area received. CFPUA estimates 8,775 gallons of sewage reached a marsh tributary to the Intracoastal Waterway.

CFPUA crews began pump and haul operations until the spill stopped at 11:15 p.m.

The area has been cleaned and the spill reported to the N.C. Division of Water Quality.
