Neighbors at Pine Valley United Methodist Church help relief effort

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — In the days since Hurricane Matthew, people have been trying to do their part to help with the relief effort. That includes here in Wilmington at Pine Valley United Methodist Church.

People have been coming in all day donating food, clothing and items for the relief effort in Lumberton with the help of volunteers here at the church. They say it’s a great way to give back.

Five full truckloads will be delivered tomorrow morning to those who have been affected by the flooding. People of all ages have been coming in donating their time to benefit others.

“It’s been a really great feeling to know that you’re doing something postive.” said volunteer Jim Henry. “All the volunteers from girl scouts to the UNCW softball girls team have all showed up. As you can see all the kids here are having a good time supporting a good cause.”

If you’d like to help donate to the lumberton relief effort, you can bring donations to the pine valley united methodist church here in wilmington until seven tonight.
