Neighbors unite: Leland’s day of giving back

LELAND, NC (WWAY) — On Saturday, Leland’s community came together for a day of giving back, as the town hosted its Lend a Hand event.

This community-wide day of service aimed to engage residents in a variety of volunteer activities that address local needs.

The Town of Leland collaborated with several organizations to ensure there were activities suitable for everyone.

Volunteers had the opportunity to choose from a range of projects, including planting trees and participating in trash cleanup efforts.

Kelli Newton, Budget and Strategy Manager for the Town of Leland, expressed her excitement about the event, stating, “We are a relatively new town, and we wanted to have a day of giving back to the community and bringing everybody together alongside our nonprofits to just give back.”

For those who missed this year’s Lend a Hand event, there’s good news: another day of service is scheduled for March 22.
