New acting studio honors loved one who died of Pancreatic Cancer
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY)– Acting, dancing, and a little bit of singing, that’s what PTPT Studio does, and Emilia Torello, the Director at the acting studio, says everyone should give it a shot.
“I say if you are interested in this, you will find a class and opportunity for you at PTPT,” said Torello.
The studio, which has only been around since last December, is located at the Thalian Hall Center for the Performing Arts.
The idea came from an idea between Torello, and her late fiancé, actor Paul Teal who died in 2024 after battling pancreatic cancer.
Together, they wanted to teach theatre arts to everybody no matter their age or experience.
“One of the things he always said is that he wanted to inspire others, to achieve what the world seems impossible. We fell in love in this building, so there is no truly better way to continue that sentiment and what his wishes were, which is making this accessible and bring it here.”
Torello, alongside professionally trained teachers and instructors, want to build a bridge between actors and the public, so everyone can see their work.
“We are creating, helping, eating, and teaching, the next artist who are going to be the next professionals for Wilmington and beyond,” said Torello.
Miscast Cabaret has an evening performance tomorrow, and a matinee performance on Sunday. Tickets are still available.
