New businesses coming to Leland

LELAND, NC (WWAY) — After two years of hard work, Leland is getting an exciting new addition. Friday afternoon the North Brunswick Chamber of Commerce held a ground breaking ceremony for what is called Westgate Marketplace.

It is being developed next to the Leland Super Walmart. There are four new retail, office, and restaurant buildings under construction. Some of the new additions to the area include Petsense, Cricket Wireless, Miyabi Junior, Complete Coastal Dentistry and Charlie Graingers.

Leland’s mayor says this new development puts the town on the map as the area continues to grow.

“So Westgate Marketplace came from a need for additional retail, restaurant and services for the exploding population here in Leland,” leasing agent, Jack Kilbourne said.

Construction for the Westgate Marketplace is expected to last throughout the summer. Developers hope to have businesses up and running by the fall.
