New CFCC location in Surf City set to open
SURF CITY, NC (WWAY) — After six years of planning and construction, Cape Fear Community College will open its doors Saturday in Surf City.
The new A.D. Xander Guy Building features eight classrooms and a media center. There will be an annual “Lunch and Learn” sponsored by local businesses and the Chamber of Commerce.
CFCC spokesman David Hardin said the new location offers a variety of different courses, including English, math, psychology and some criminal justice classes. Hardin said the new Surf City location is a plus for Pender County students.
“People that are interested in going into business for themselves can network in the area and how to find out ways to set their own businesses up,” he said. “And how to be more successful in what they’re doing now.”
Classes at the new CFCC location will be offered as early as May.
Saturday’s ribbon cutting ceremony starts at 11 a.m. Refreshments and a tour of the building will follow.
