NEW DETAILS: Triple homicide investigation underway in Bladen County
CLARKTON, NC (WWAY) — The Bladen County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a triple homicide. The sheriff’s office said they received a 911 call about a gunshot at around 7:30 p.m. Monday night.
When deputies arrived at a house on E Roberts Street in Clarkton, they were met by 35-year-old Kevin Musser, who was covered in blood holding a handgun.
Musser fled out the back door before deputies apprehended him. He was then airlifted to Chapel Hill with life-threatening injuries.
Inside the home, 62-year-old Daniel Dennis, 54-year-old Randy Benton, and 32-year-old Phillip Palmer were found dead, each with multiple stab wounds.
Mitchell Baldwin lives nearby and said he saw the helicopter land in a ballpark.
“So I went there and I seen the fire truck and EMS there. As I took it, I stayed up till 2 o’clock last night and I tried to find out and I found out that it was one of my friend’s house that this happened to,” Baldwin recalled.
Online records indicate the Dennis family as the owners of the home.
“My understanding, that was his mama’s house and he was the only son, and I take it he was the one to inherit the house. But I heard there was a group of guys, people, staying there with him, now. From that, I don’t know what was going on,” Baldwin explained.
Baldwin said he’s unsure of what could have led to the alleged homicides. The sheriff’s office said Musser is a person of interest in the investigation.
This is a developing story and will be updated as new details emerge.
