New Hanover ABC to add ‘spirits’ to signage

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Renovations to New Hanover County ABC headquarters in Wilmington are leading to a change in signage.

The sign on the building on 17th St. is broken, so board members decided it was time for a change. They will add the word “spirits” to the sign. Board members decided “liquor” was too blunt.

They say locals are familiar with the ABC brand, but out-of-staters are not.

They say they will focus on the sign on 17th St. first and change the rest of the signs gradually.
