New Hanover Co. tax administrator to retire

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — New Hanover County’s tax administrator is stepping down.

Roger Kelley will retire at the end of September, the county announced today.

The County Commission appointed Kelley to the job in August 2008. He began his service to New Hanover County in 2004 as Revaluation Coordinator.

The role of Tax Administrator is a board appointed position.  He also holds the role of Tax Collector, also a board appointed position. Kelley’s two-year term as Tax Administrator and Tax Collector expires at the end of September.  It is expected that his successor will also serve the dual role, the county said.

According to the news release, Kelley’s first goal in retirement is to make use of a garage full of fishing equipment.
