New Hanover County Commission results extremely close

NEW HANOVER COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — After several changes throughout the night, incumbents Jonathan Barfield and Woody White held their seats on the New Hanover County commission along with new comer Patricia Kusek, but the vote counts are all extremely close.

The second, third, fourth and fifth spots on the ballot are all within 500 votes of each other.

After all 43 precincts were reported, Woody White came in first with 52,233 at 18.13%. Patricia Kusek came in second with 48,833 at 16.95%. Jonathan Barfield came in third with 48,823 at 16.95%. Derrick Hickey came in fourth with 48,372 at 16.79%. Julia Boseman came in fifth with 48,370 at 16.79%. Nelson Beaulieu came in last with 41,402 at 14.37%.

With races this close, recounts are likely.

We have called the New Hanover County Board of Elections to check on the counts. We are still waiting to hear back.
